My name is Toni
Pautler, 2007-2008 President of the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce.
On behalf of the
Chamber, I welcome you to Sparta. We are both pleased and proud to
have you as guests in our area. If we can be of assistance in any
way, please contact us. Our website is a work in progress as is our
Chamber.
The Chamber is
in its 100th Anniversary year. We are just now
establishing an office and web site as our needs have changed with
the addition of the World Shooting and Recreational Complex. Our
Chamber has grown by 73 new members in the last year. Members spent
over 600 hours greeting guests at the Complex during the Grand. We
face many new challenges as our town and areas expand and look
forward to pursuing them to the best of our ability.
Marland
Kelly was named the 2007 Sparta Outstanding Citizen during the
Sparta Chamber of Commerce annual dinner on March 31. Kelly has
been an officer and director of the First National Bank of Sparta
for 60 years. Sparta City Attorney Alan Farris, who made the
presentation, said Kelly was a vital part of the city’s financial
backbone and a supporter of downtown development long before TIF.
First National Bank remains Sparta’s only locally-owned bank.
Kelly has served
on the Sparta Public Building commission and the Municipal Civic and
Cultural Board. He is a longtime member of Trinity United
Presbyterian Church and a past president of the Sparta Country Club
board. Kelly is an active member of chamber, Rotary, VFW and
American Legion. He is a past member of the Sparta Lions Club. He
has also served as a local representative for United Way and the
Salvation Army.
