to live in Rural America.
An article in
the January 2007 Progressive Farmer Magazine rated Randolph County
third in the top ten best places to live in rural America. It was
rated number on in the Midwest. The ranking is based on such
criteria as household income, household spending, home and land
prices, crime rates, air quality, education and access to health
care.
The researchers
found the average home price was $79, 838. The county sales tax was
only slightly higher than top 300average at 6.25%. The crime rate
was based on the national average of 100. The county rated 19% for
total crime compared to 47% for the top 300 average. College bound
students for the top 300 average was at 61.03% compared to an
impressive 91.1% for the county. The population is listed as 33,022
with a population density of 55.33 per square mile.
