NEW
OFFICE We have been receiving very favorable comments about our new office and the museum. If you haven’t been in yet, please drop by. Our hours are Tuesday and Thursday 11 to 1, Wednesday 10 to 2. THANK
YOU Emma Spreitler and family wish to
thank the Chamber of Commerce and the City of SPECIAL
EVENTS Preparations have begun for the Grand American. The office is collecting advertisement material and donations for the Goody Bags to be passed out at the Grand information booth. For your information to be placed in the folder that will be given out, you must be a current paid member of 2009. Don’t let this chance of free advertisement pass you by. The goal is to have 300 -500 information folders ready to pass out, and at least 200 goody bags. COIN
COMMITTEE Charlie Bluff has been busy trying to contact people to purchase the rest of their sets of coins we have been holding for them. Prairie State Generating Company has offered sponsorship for our side of the coin this year. The coins should be in July 24, please notify the office to reserve your coin, as they are limited this year. VOLUNTEERS We are still in need for volunteers to help man the
information booth at the Grand American. Please call the office or Charlie
Bluff, 443-2609. Call early and get the shift you want. NEW COMMITTEES The new committees for the year are starting to meet and make plans for upcoming events. MEMBERSHIP We still have several members who have been with us for years that have not paid their yearly dues. Please contact the office or Kelly Ethington if you wish to get your dues paid. We are making arrangements this year for monthly billing to help make it easier on you during this rough economic time. We don’t want to lose any of our members, each of you are a viable asset to the Chamber. |

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY IN NEWSLETTER The 2009 membership directory is located at the end of this newsletter. If you have paid for 2009 and are not listed, please contact the office. We have been having difficulty trying to get the membership list organized. NEW
MEMBERS This month we are pleased to welcome
a new business to the Chamber of Commerce. Reese Roofing and Construction,
operated by Michel and Amy Reese, have joined as members. As you may
remember, Michel and Amy were very beneficial in getting the museum and
chamber office set up. 3-D
ARCHERY EVENTS Bob Stirnaman who was a great help and asset to the organizers of the 3-D shoots was present at the monthly meeting. Ruben Owen presented Mr. Stirnaman with a plaque of appreciation for all the work and assistance he gave to us. MUSEUM
The museum has received quite a few visitors during the past month. We have had people come in and they are in awe of all the interesting items we have. Quite a few of the visitors had stories to tell relating to a picture or an item. COUNTY
HIGHWAY 18 SIGN As of right now, there is an opening on the sign on the way to the Complex. The cost of the sign is $500 per year. If you would be interested in leasing this space, please notify the office, Michael Hayes or Ron Stork. NEXT
MONTH’S MONTHLY MEETING We will be meeting next month at the Sparta VFW for our monthly meeting. NEW NEWS If you have something you would like to have put in the newsletter, please contact me at the office. Come in, call, or email and I will be happy to add it to our newsletter. HOUSING
NEEDS The office is daily receiving calls for people looking for houses or apartments to rent during the Grand American. If you know of anyone with something available, please contact the office. REMINDER Support your local veterans and active soldiers during the Independence Day time, for without them, we have no freedom. And please remember to support your local Chamber. |
